Bloc Party are no strangers to the remix album, as they've already graced fans with a remixed version of their debut
Silent Alarm. In the case of
Silent Alarm, the remixes didn't do much to make the original songs stronger, as the debut album itself is already Bloc Party's best to date.
Intimacy is, however, their third album and the weakest in their musical career. Naturally, you would think that remixing songs that are already not-so-great would result in a catastrophe, but surprisingly, Bloc Party achieve better results than that. A refrain of "Get fucked up" along with bold beats and dancefloor-ready synths kick off the Villians remix of "Ares," and things only get better from that point. Unlike their last remix album that fluctuated between dancey and reflective,
Intimacy Remixed is entirely focused on making you dance your face off. Other highlights include the Mogwai remix of "Biko," the John B remix of "Trojan Horse," and the No Age remix of "Better Than Heaven." If Bloc Party is going to continue to allow other bands to remix their full length albums, I hope they're always as dancey and fun as
Intimacy Remixed.
