Vivian Girls - S/T

Hype can be a tricky thing, but in the case of the blogosphere's newest crush, Vivian Girls, the excitement seems to live up to their music. Their 1960's girl group fetish is complimented nicely by their gritty, noise-pop side, a musical combo that seems to be drawing more and more attention to the Brooklyn trio. Their Self-titled debut was just reissued on In The Red records, and is already sold out, not surprisingly. After all, who can resist girls that go by names like "Kickball Katy" and "Cassie Ramone," especially if they harmonize like The Crystals and can rip through ten songs in twenty minutes. If you still have No Age's new album on repeat, it may be time to put it down and see what the Vivian Girls have to offer to the same genre.

Not to terribly impressed. It just sounds like a girl yell-screaming-singing over a bunch of racket.

I like upbeat songs, but not upbeat racket.
