Simian Mobile Disco - Temporary Pleasure

One way to get fans to pay attention to your upcoming album is to get a bunch of notable names to guest on it. In Simian Mobile Disco's case, the London duo invited several of their friends to contribute to their new album, Temporary Pleasure. Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals starts the album off on the bouncy, "Cream Dream," his soothing vocals proving to be a great fit with SMD's beats. Chris Keating of Yeasayer keeps the album goes on "Audacity of Huge" with his trademark yelp and such amazing lyrics as "I've got that grape Kool-Aid swimming pool." Beth Ditto's beloved R&B style voice is also a highlight on electro jam, "Cruel Intentions." At just ten tracks long, Temporary Pleasure is a very concise album that isn't in love with itself, meaning that there aren't ten-minute long repetitive dance tracks, which is a rarity sometimes in the indie-dance world. SMD have definitely gone in the right direction by bringing guests aboard this album, further augmenting their sound and proving that they have staying power.
