a.w.e.some.
fervently working on mine the last couple days.
question though-- did bondy in fact come out this year? because everywhere i look, i see 2007. which sucks, because he's right up there near the top if american hearts was released in '08.
i saw this on the TMT individual list...i like it a lot
did you agree with the final 25 marvin compiled?
Mike,
Thanks! Can't wait to see your list! American Hearts was initially released in 2007, but reissued in 2008, so I decided to count it.
BP,
Thanks! Yeah, for the most part, I did.
-Anna.
Always adored popapocalypse site and a fine set of end of year LPs this is. I love Deerhunter but not its a #1 always liked that Atlas Sound lp more than the DH ones.
My top 5 would most likely read:
Bon Iver (2008) For Emma, Forever Ago
Oneida (2008) Preteen Weaponry
Ponytail (2008) Ice Cream Spiritual
Fleet Foxes (2008) Self-titled
The Week That Was (2008) Self-titled
All LP's I'm still playing and most likely always will have a soft spot for.
I think Tallest Man should replace one of those. Also, A lot of people completely missed Paul Westerberg's 49:00 which makes singer/songwriters like Oberst seem like an amateur. Other then that good list.
sauer
great list. quite a few of those are on my list for 2008 as well. glad to see Feral Children! i found them because of your blog and have been into them ever since. even saw them in NYC at CMJ and they were awesome.
keep up the great work!
anna i totally concur on the deerhunter 'nothing ever happened' single - i have that on the ipod and CANNOT stop listening to it.
a magnificent, sprawling tune, that is.
wishing pop apocalypse a splendid holiday season and all the best for '09!
